LEO and SSRU Sign MU to Provide Supply Chain Education for Students

LEO Global Logistics Pcl.(LEO), Thailand’s leading end-to-end logistics services provider, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU) to co-run a unique dual-mode undergraduate program, leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the field of Business Supply Chain Management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutikarn Sriviboon, Dean of SSRU, and Mr. Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, Chief Executive Officer, Leo Global Logistics, signed the MoU on behalf of each party.

The main goal of this agreement is to train highly skilled graduates for the logistics industry. The SSRU undergraduate program will ensure that the students fully understand the essential logistics business, maritime business, air freight management concepts, and theories through attending classroom lectures and doing exams. At the same time, LEO will provide the students with the opportunities to learn from hands-on work experience at the company as well as tuition fee scholarships and allowances during the length of the program. After completing the two-year program, students who pass the company’s probationary period will be hired as full-time employees.

“Our unique program provides low-income students with access to quality education and training in the logistics industry. Over only two years and one additional semester, students can simultaneously pursue a bachelor’s degree and gain real work experiences through the internship at LEO, to get a better head start at employment as highly skilled graduates with full LEO DNA. At the same time, if students want to start their businesses, we will support these entrepreneurial spirits and help develop and expand their businesses alongside LEO. This is one of the several LEO projects that will contribute to our new s-curve, leading to future sustainable business growth,” said Mr. Sittisoontornwong .

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sriviboon also added, “Our collaboration with LEO provides a new dimension to education and human resource development in which educational institutions and the private sector work together to equip students with in-demand, industry-specific skills, through scholarships and internship opportunities with allowances for the duration of the two years and one semester. This groundbreaking program is an important step in expanding educational opportunities, giving the public access to cutting-edge, modern knowledge without the limitation of having to be a traditionally enrolled student at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.”

In 2018, LEO, together with the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA) and SSRU, started this scholarship program for underprivileged students, which successfully produced a workforce that meets LEO’s personnel needs, leading the company to enter its second ongoing agreement directly with SSRU, in which LEO intends to provide a total of ten scholarships or more if there are extra qualified applicants.
